An image of the front page of the Sunday Monitor newspaper shared on Facebook with a cover story claiming that 25 years of Fake opposition is FALSE.
A doctored front page falsely attributed to the Sunday Monitor has been widely circulated on social media, with hundreds of shares on Facebook alone—potentially amplifying the spread of misleading content.
To verify its authenticity, FactJaja conducted a fact-check using the official Facebook accounts and websites of the Daily Monitor, including their verified X handle. Our verification confirms that the authentic front page of the Sunday Monitor dated 27th July 2025 carries the headline:
“NRM’s Grand Plan for Kampala in Tight Fix”
—NOT the headline 25 years of Fake opposition AS shown in the altered image.
This is a clear case of image manipulation, and such disinformation tactics are not surprising, particularly as Uganda approaches the 2026 General Elections. These acts aim to distort public perception and undermine credible journalism.
