The clip, which has been widely shared on TikTok and WhatsApp, even appeared on the X . Its spread has raised concerns as Uganda moves closer to the general elections, a period when misleading content is likely to surge.
Factjaja carefully examined key frames of the video and found that the images had been manipulated. The material was taken from President Museveni’s official trip to Cairo on August 13, 2025, where he held high-level talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. There is no record or credible evidence that the president ever made the statement attributed to him in the video. Watch here
This is part of a growing wave of false and misleading content created with new digital tools that mimic real voices and appearances. Such videos are designed to confuse the public and sow fear, especially among vulnerable communities.
