A piece of New Vision Page image circulating widely on social media, claiming that “Bobi Wine Kyagulanyi plans to lose the election” and intends to scrap the Parish Development Model (PDM), has been confirmed as fake.
The manipulated image mimics the the The New Vision, that shows the original layout was altered. The authentic version of that edition featured an article titled “UGANDA POLICE FORCE DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT”, which included a photograph of the late AIGP Katarambi Charles. In the fake version, this original content was scrapped and replaced with a fabricated political story targeting opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine).
The New Vision has since come out publicly to warn its readers through an official post on its verified Facebook page, writing:

“Dear Valued Readers,
A counterfeit page of New Vision is currently circulating on social media. Please disregard this misinformation and rely only on official sources for accurate news.”
This fabricated article is one of several examples of election-related misinformation that Factjaja and partners have tracked in recent months. As Uganda heads toward the 2026 general elections, such false stories—often designed to sow fear, division, and confusion among voters—are expected to increase.
Factjaja, working together with The New Vision, verifies that the viral article is DOCTORED and urges the public to verify information before sharing it.
Misinformation not only misleads citizens but also undermines trust in media and disrupts healthy electoral debate.
This article is part of Factjaja’s ongoing efforts to investigate and verify content flagged as potential misinformation across social media platforms.
