FactJaja’s Editorial Principles and Methodology
FactJaja is committed to upholding the highest standards of fact-checking and information verification. Our work is guided by core principles that ensure fairness, transparency, and accuracy in every report we publish. Below is an overview of our commitments, processes, and methodologies
1. Commitment to Non-Partisanship and Consistency
We apply the same rigorous standards to every fact check, regardless of the subject matter or source. Our focus spans various fields, including politics, health, economics, and social issues. Importantly, FactJaja does not advocate for or take policy positions on the issues we fact-check. Our sole objective is to provide accurate, evidence-based information.
2. Commitment to Fairness
Our fact-checking process ensures that all sides of a story are represented. We avoid bias and strive to present balanced, critical, and evidence-driven reports. Our findings are based solely on the facts, not personal opinions or external influences.
3. Commitment to Transparency of Sources
As a leading fact-checking organization, we provide detailed sources for our investigations, enabling readers to verify our work independently. In cases where a source’s security could be compromised, we anonymize details while maintaining the credibility of the report.
4. Commitment to Transparency of Funding and Organisation
FactJaja is transparent about its funding sources. We ensure that funders have no influence over our conclusions. We disclose the professional backgrounds of key team members, our organisational structure, and legal status. Readers can easily reach us for feedback or inquiries.
5. Commitment to Transparent Methodology
We clearly explain our methodology for selecting, researching, writing, editing, publishing, and correcting fact checks. Readers are encouraged to submit claims for verification through our website and social media platforms.
6. Commitment to Open and Honest Corrections
We publicly acknowledge and correct errors in line with our corrections policy. Corrections are clearly highlighted, and readers are directed to the updated version of the report.
Core Principles
- We Rate Statements of Fact
FactJaja evaluates the accuracy of factual statements, not opinions, ideas, or arguments. We focus on the precise wording and context of claims. - Focus on Significance
We prioritise claims that have a meaningful impact, avoiding minor inconsistencies unless they are contextually important. - Best Evidence Available
Our ratings are based on the best publicly available evidence at the time of the claim. We rely on credible data, statistics, and on-the-record interviews, avoiding off-the-record or inaccessible sources. - Mistakes and Updates
We strive for accuracy but remain open to corrections when new evidence emerges. Updates and corrections are clearly labeled and explained.
Corrections Policy
FactJaja values feedback from our audience. If an error is identified, we promptly review and correct it. Corrections are highlighted in the report with a “CORRECTION” or “UPDATE” label, along with an explanation of the change.
Readers can submit feedback via the comment section under articles or by emailing info@factjaja.com. All feedback is reviewed by senior staff, and responses are provided promptly.
