latest scam involves impostors posing as representatives of USAID, deceiving individuals into believing they are eligible for substantial financial rewards. just a day after publishing similar fraud syndicate, fraudsters are changing tactics by switching organisation per organisation when they learn that there is community sensations.
These fraudulent schemes are designed to extract personal information or upfront fees from their victims under the guise of processing fees or verification steps

How does this work.
Imposters hack into Facebook accounts, primarily targeting women, and use their images along with fake screenshots of purported Mobile Money rewards. These imposters then stage various comments in the comment section, supplementing the fake rewards with claims about how the scheme has benefited them.
WhatsApp Links as Clickbaits:
WhatsApp links are attached as click-baits, leading users into direct chats with fraudsters. These imposters request personal details and inform the victims about the amount of money needed. Most of these WhatsApp numbers have US and UK country codes. After selecting the desired amount of money, victims are asked to pay a registration fee via Kenyan networks.
We have contacted USAID Communication and they are yet to comment about the scheme.
